Terms and privacy

The deal

getpaidtocomplain.com runs paid research interviews about what work is actually like. Right now we interview paralegals and legal assistants in the US. You talk to our AI interviewer about your workday. If your interview is substantive and you pass verification, we pay you $25.

Eligibility

• You are 18 or older and work in the US.
• You currently work as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in legal operations.
• One paid interview per person during this phase.

Getting paid

We pay for substantive interviews: roughly ten minutes of real conversation about your actual work. We do not pay for one word answers, speed runs, or interviews from people misrepresenting their job. Our team reviews each interview before payout.

Before payment we ask you to verify your role, usually with a LinkedIn profile. Once verified, your $25 digital reward is sent by email through Tremendous, typically within 24 hours of your interview. You pick the reward type (Amazon, Visa, PayPal, and more). We may ask for a W-9 if your rewards from us ever reach $600 in a calendar year, which at $25 a person is unlikely.

Recording and consent

Interviews are recorded and transcribed. By starting an interview you consent to that recording. If you don't want to be recorded, don't start the interview.

What we do with your interview

Transcripts are anonymized and analyzed in aggregate to understand how legal work gets done. Short anonymous quotes from interviews may appear in our research and in materials based on it. Your name, your firm's name, and anything that could identify you are removed first. We do not sell your personal information.

Confidential information

Do not share client names, case numbers, party names, or anything covered by privilege or confidentiality obligations. Our interviewer is instructed to steer away from those details, and we redact anything that slips through. We want complaints about the work, not the confidential contents of it.

What we collect

• Your screener answers (role, experience, tools, state, one line about your day).
• A personal email address, used for verification and payout. Never a work address, and we never contact your employer.
• At payout time, a LinkedIn URL or similar proof of role. We look at it, confirm you're real, and don't use it for anything else.
• The interview recording and transcript.

Want your data deleted? Email hello@getpaidtocomplain.com from the address you signed up with and we'll delete your recording, transcript, and contact info within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate findings that no longer identify you may remain.

What this isn't

Participating doesn't create an employment, contractor, or agency relationship. The $25 is a research incentive, not wages. We're an independent research team. We aren't a law firm, we don't give legal advice, and we're not affiliated with your employer or any bar association.

Housekeeping

We can pause or close the study, or decline payment for interviews that are fraudulent or plainly low effort. We'll always tell you which of those happened. These terms can change; the date at the top tells you when they last did.
